Update August 2008
10:00 Dec. 11th 1942 Campaign Time

The initial CMMC3 Operational Phase has been completed. The map image below shows the path of the general advance by the main forces involved. We had three areas of contact in the central and northern parts of Tunisia. There may also be forces moving in more southerly areas, but there has been no contact between Allied and Axis forces in that section up to now.

The Operational Phase progressed at a fast and furious pace, with columns of battlegroups racing towards each other. Skirmishes between opposing Long Range Recon Patrols - played out in CMAK - as well as arial interdiction and recon flights, provided Players with intel about the dayly progress of their forces.
By Dec. 10th, it became clear, that the large concentration of opposing forces in the north and center, could not be resolved within the rather general frame of the Operational Phase Rules.
The rather complex tactical developments around the railway stations of Tamera/Sedjenane and the town of Beja, needed to be represented in more depth and detail.

It was therefore decided to suspend the Operational Phase and switch to the Tactical Phase, using the Generic Campaign Control System (Geccos) developed by Pal Woje, creator of COCAT.
The other two areas of contact were seen as too important to the overall progress of the campaign, to be resolved by GM arbitration, so Teboursouk and Medjez el Bab were declared independent Battle Areas, seperated in time and space from the TacPhase area. Several CMAK battles have been fought there since Dec. 7th and the fight for control of these areas is still in full swing !!
The TacPhase started in the morning of Dec.11th. 1942 and is expected to last until late afternoon/early evening of Dec.11th. We have played one hour of the TacPhase now, with one large CMAK battle at Station Tamera and a smaller CMAK battle west of Beja.
We expect at least another five hours of movement and quite a few battles, before the current TacPhase, and thus the first part of the Tunisia Campaign, is done.

Be warned, though. This WW2 campaign is not a series of CMAK Quick Battles. You are cast as the commanding officer of a semi-historic WW2 combat group, which you need to lead into battle with cunning and skill. Outmaneuvering your enemy and preserving your own force, is more important than winning a battle. CMMC is more than a game, it's an experience.
