Hello and welcome to Combat Mission Meta Campaign #3 - Tunisia, late 1942.
Historically, the build-up to the initial fighting in the northern Tunisia AO was
dominated by the hasty assembling and transferring of troops by road, sea, air and railroad
over an area which is much larger than the areas where the actual fighting took place, and this build-up took months to complete.
To accommodate this, there will be separate operational and tactical segments for CMMC3.
The first operational phase of the campaign will last from the end of September to November/December 1942
and will be played in two stages.
The purpose of the operational segment is to allow players to place their forces at the starting locations according to their own ideas, develop their own strategy for the campaign and to provide a logical way to determine a smaller map area for the tactical segment.
Operational Phase Planning and Orders
Allied forces will start the campaign some 30 Km west of the Algeria/Tunisia border and Axis forces start within
their bridgeheads at Bizerte and Tunis.
One month of RealTime at the ratio of one week GameTime = two weeks RealTime will be allowed for the
Allied and Axis planning stage, which will result in a set of orders that places all available combat
units at their start location for November 30th 1942 and determine where they move from there.
Operational Phase Orders Resolution
Once the initial deployment orders are in, GMs will move all units according to the operational orders
issued by Division and Regiment Commanders, until leading elements of substantial opposing forces make contact.
At this point, the operational phase is suspended and the tactical phase begins.
Tactical Phase
This phase will play just like the previous CMMC scenarios.
Movement will be tracked on the Geccos map and Regt./Bn. COs will post orders to the GMs.
The TacPhase will advance at the rate of 15 mins of GameTime = 2 weeks of RealTime and represents
about one morning or afternoon of intense fighting.
In other words, there will be approx. 6 hours of GameTime (12 month of RealTime) to manoeuvre Battalion formations and fight CMAK battles.
At the end of the TacPhase, the campaign may end or a further OpPhase may be initiated, if Players & GMs want to
continue the campaign into early 1943.
